We know that booking a hot air balloon ride is a big deal – it’s exciting, a little bit magical, and (for many) a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

But if you’ve never flown before, you’ve probably got questions. Good news: you’re not alone! Whether you’re wondering what to wear, what happens if the weather’s bad, or just how high we fly – you’re in the right place.

Here are some of the most common questions we hear before take-off – and our honest, friendly answers.

🤔 “What if I’m nervous?”

Totally normal. In fact, a bit of nervous excitement is part of the adventure. But here’s the thing: ballooning is surprisingly calm.
There’s no sudden drop, no jolting movement – just a smooth, slow lift and a peaceful glide. You’ll be amazed how quickly the nerves melt away once you’re up there, enjoying the view with the wind in your hair (and maybe a few cows waving from below).

🧥 “What should I wear?”

Think countryside walk. We recommend comfy layers, flat shoes or boots, and something you don’t mind getting a little dusty – especially during landing or pack-down.
It’s not much colder in the air than on the ground, but mornings can be chilly, so bring a jumper or light jacket just in case.

🌅 “How long does it all take?”

The flight itself lasts around an hour, but the whole experience usually takes 3 to 4 hours. That includes check-in, briefing, inflation, the flight, landing, packing the balloon away (yes – you can join in if you fancy!), and a glass of champagne to finish.

☁️ “What if the weather’s bad?”

Ballooning is 100% weather dependent – safety is always the priority. If it’s too windy, foggy, rainy, or unsettled, we’ll postpone and reschedule your flight.
We know it can be frustrating, but we promise it’s worth the wait. And your voucher stays valid for 12 months, so there’s plenty of time to rebook.

📍 “Where do you fly from?”

We fly from four beautiful Norfolk and Suffolk locations, each offering stunning countryside views and peaceful skies. From riverside farmland to rolling fields, it’s a truly local experience.

🥂 “Do you really serve champagne after the flight?”

We really do! It’s a lovely tradition that goes back to the very first balloonists in France. After we’ve landed and packed away the balloon, we’ll pop the cork and raise a glass with you – it’s the perfect way to mark the occasion.

🎈 “Can I bring people to watch?”

Absolutely! Friends and family are welcome to come along to the launch site and wave you off. They won’t be able to follow the balloon by road (it’s hard to keep up!), but they’re welcome to be part of the experience on the ground.
